Good to see your posting. A Beitel/Beutel genealogy was compiled by Charles H. Beitel about 1900 & later updated by Ashley H. Beitel & his father, Julius H. Beitel, in 1957. Various researchers since that time have updated portions of the 1957 work. The line of Beutel/Beitel ancestors covered in the works is the line from which I, as well a number of researchers who have posted here, descend.
It is from Ashley's 1957 work that I found Walter Lewis Beitel, born 1873 & died 2 April 1942. According to Ashley's notes, this Walter Beitel was single (never married?) & resided in Los Angeles. His father was Lewis Josiah Beitel, born 13 Jan 1851 in Northampton Co., PA, married Mary E. Arnold, & died 30 April 1941. Lewis lived around Newark NJ & was a watchmaker. He & Mary had 11 children.
These are the only Walter & Lewis Beitel listed in Ashley's work that reached adulthood. No Tomasso, Dempsey, or Beverly Ann Beitel appear that seem to match your data. It is probably a long shot that you'd descend from the above Lewis & Walter. If the above Walter Lewis was the father of your granddad, Walter Lewis, then he would have been 44 yrs old when your granddad was born, according to your & Ashley's data. Plus the fact that Ashley indicated that Walter was single. I'm not certain what Ashley meant by that statement, but perhaps he had been married once & at the time was single. No children to Walter are indicated.
There are a number of other Beitel lines in the US that are not related to the above Beitels. Seems that one of those lines was around Pittsburgh, but I'll have to recheck my notes. I'll keep your query in my records in case I run across any useful info to you.
