To my knowledge it has always been Beitel, except when they were in Silesia it was Beutel. Never seen it spelled any other way. Often mispronounced, but that is another story. In this line, which came to US and began in Nazareth in 1740's there is a William Roth married to an Emma Beitel. This was in the mid 1800's and she died in Northampton Co PA.
