Beitel Family Genealogy Forum

I know that some of my Beitel's also went to California. I am not sure of the year, but I believe it was in the 1920's. They lived in Glendale area. I remember going to visit with some of them when I was little. I also grew up in California. My family line was John Henry Beitel and Margaret Chapman. I know their youngest son John Beitel was born in California. I have not yet ordered newspaper obits of their deaths, but do have their death certificates as well as pictures of their graves. There was quite a group of the Beitels in that area. I would bet that they had something to do with your family going there also. John Henry Beitel was a brother to my greatgrandfather Fred Beitel. We went to see John Henry and family when they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. It was in the newspaper at the time. I think my mom had a clipping of it, but wouldn't be able to find at this time. But I am sure that you could get a copy of it from the newspaper. The year of the celebration was 1960. I was only about 4. I remember my mom telling me that the paper listed many of the family that was there. It seems from my memory that my parents and us kids were also mentioned. It might be worth looking this up to find if your family came. Sometimes it lists who came and from where. Also, John Henry died 7 aug 1965 in Cerritos, Calif. He is buried in Rose Hills Park. I would bet that his obit also lists the family that came for it and from where. Then his wife died 16 sept 1982 (Maggie Chapman Beitel)and she would also be in the newspaper. It is worth checking. Good luck with this. Sherry
