The earliest genealogy work done on the Beitel/Beutel families who came to the US from abroad, that I'm aware of, was done by Charles Henry Beitel (b. 1846) about 1900. Significant contributions were made to this work by Ashley Howard Beitel (b. 1886) and, more recently, Jeri Beitel & Nancy Sickler among others. From this work, the following family lines have been identified: (1) A group of Beitels around the San Antonio, Texas area whose ancestors may have been the earliest to come to the US from Germany, arriving in Philadelphia then on to Texas about 1838. (2) Descendants of two sons of Heinrich Beutel/Beitel (1710/11-1763) who were sent to be educated in the Moravian schools around Nazareth PA. The two boys were Johann Renatus Beitel (1740-1840) who was brought to the US in 1745, & Christian Frederick Beitel (1752-1833) who was brought in 1755. (3) Two Beitel brothers in Detroit whose father came to the US about 1860. (4) A group of Beitels near Stayton, Oregon whose ancestors came from Moravia, province of Austria, about 1879, settling on a homestead near Humphrey, Nebraska then moving to Oregon about 1916. (5) A group of Beitels in Pittsburgh whose ancestors came from eastern Germany to Johnstown, Pennsylvania sometime between 1880 & 1900. (6) Some Beitels in Pennsylvania & New York whose ancestors came to the US after WWI from the Moravian section of Austria or Hungary. Surely, there are others who made the trek across the ocean that need to be added to this list. I descend from the Heinrich Beitel/Beutel line, But I'm also interested in other Beitel/Beutel lines, especially if they can be tied to a common ancestor in Europe. My specific questions will be listed under the respective Beitel/Beutel lines identified above.
