It has been years since you posted your query so I expect there is little chance that you will ever see my response.

In 1799 Lancelot Bahan along with John McKenney and John Mackie (McKee)were given 400 acres of land on Barkley's Run - at time in Harrison County, Virginia (now WV). In 1802 Lance Bahan & wife, Sarah, John McKenny & wife, Mary, John Mackie/McKee & wife, Mary sold that same land for $500.

My interest is in John McKenney and his wife, Mary Wiseman, who had already left Harrison County and had settled in Kentucky.

But I am curious about why the three men were given the Land Grant together. I am wondering what their relationship might have been. I thought, perhaps, that Lancelot's wife, Sarah, might have been John McKenney's sister - but clearly that was not the case.

If in your researches since 1998 you have discovered anything more about Lancelot Behen and Sarah Gente, I would appreciate hearing from you! Do you know, for instance, where Lancelot and Sarah were married?

Thank you.
