Hello Julie - I was interested to see your message. The name 'BEAGHAN' is a corruption of the Irish/Gaelic name for 'BEHAN', which is O'BEACHAIN, (with an accent over the 2nd. 'A', and name pronounced - 'O'BACK AWE IN'). I hope this all makes sense !!!. Also, I am not sure whether you are aware, but the name 'BEHAN' in Ireland, is quite scarse. I myself am from the rugged West Coast of Ireland - County Clare, and now live and work in Kent, England I am well aware also that during the numerous Famine periods in Ireland, genuine people were transported to Australia for 'borrowing' a grain of corn from rich landowners, to save themselves and family from starvation. This would coincide with the times you were referring to. Kind Regards for now Mike Behan. Notify Administrator about this message?
