Hi Geoff, The early Beggs history needs correction. Please check with Ken Johnston at kenj@melbpc.org.au who is collating notes from various sources. William Beggs will from 1874 would clarify a few things - I made these notes years ago but I don't have a copy of the will - William Beggs, esquire of Lisnafillan, county Antrim, died at Lisnafillan in the district of Belfast on 24 Nov 1874. He wished to be buried with his beloved family in parish Craig, county Antrim. He willed his property to his wife Martha Beggs for life, then to pass to the children. Witnesses to the will were John Montgomery & John McClintock, both of Lisnafillan. The will also referred to a Mr William Gihon of Clonarvon. I also noted that William Beggs was a linen merchant and linen bleacher at Ballymena, and that he married Martha Gihon on 20 Apr 1824 at Ballymena. Ken has traced Tammie Fraser's line and there are two very good books with material on the related Beggs and Faris families in Victoria at the State Library - "Early Pioneer Families of Victoria and the Riverina" by A Henderson and "The Flowers of the Field - a History of Ripon Shire"by Hugh Anderson.
