This is to replace information that I first posted in 1999 concerning this Beggs Family.
Francis S. Beggs was born in Ireland 12/20/1839 died 10/4/1915 in Denver, CO. He married Sarah Odele Norman born 2/17/1843 in Stoddard, MO. and died 3/31/1916. Francis Beggs was a Methodist Minister and they lived in several cities in Missouri including Fulton, St. Louis, Warrensburg, Maryville, Smithton, and Rolla. Their children were:
(1)William Norman Beggs born 1863 in St. Louis, MO.and died 1941 in Denver, CO. He married Elizabeth S. born 1963 in Germany and died in 1941 in Denver, CO. They had one son Francis Adolp Beggs born 10/2/1889 in St. Louis, MO and died 1/17/1894 in St. Louis, MO. William Beggs was a physican and lived in St. Louis, MO and Denver, CO.
(2)Charles Hoffman Beggs born 7/8/1865, Maryville, MO. died 5/12/1942 in Inglewood, CA. He married first Laura Burgess Buckingham born 12/12/1871 in Orange, NJ and died 7/15/1942 in St. Louis, MO. Charles and Laura had Ruth Beggs born 6/12/1895 in St. Louis, MO. and died 1/10/1896 in Galveston, TX. Charles Norman Beggs born 12/28/1897 in St. Louis, MO. died 7/7/1964 in White Hall, IL. Charles married Elizabeth Loe Corsa born 11/20/1900 in Chicago, IL and died 11/11/1991 in White Hall, IL. They had children Gregory Buckingham Beggs born 11/3/1929 Chicago, IL, William Corsa Beggs born 12/12/1931 Chicago, IL, Emily Louise Beggs born 6/24/1933 Chicago, IL and Sarah Jane Beggs born 1/20/1935 Chicago, IL.
Charles Hoffman married second Lola Patton born 6/3/1884 in IN and died 2/1/1983 in Orange, CA. Charles and Lola had Charles Hoffman, Jr born 6/30/1925 in Glendale, CA and died 3/5/1999 in Los Angles, CA. Charles Hoffman Beggs was Vice-President of the Union Pacific Railroad and named the towns of Beggs and Norman in Oklahoma.
(3)Gertrude Harper Beggs born 2/27/1874 Fulton, MO died 4/11/1951 Denver, CO. Gertrude never married. She was a teacher and wrote three books.
(4)Leroy Vernon Beggs is mentioned in Francis Beggs' will as living in Dallas, TX and all info is unknown.
With the exception of Leroy Vernon Beggs, Francis/wife Sarah, son William/wife Elizabeth/their son Francis Adoph, Charles Hoffman and Gertrude are all buried in the Beggs plot in Rolla Cemetery, Rolla, MO.
Francis S. Beggs' father was Charles Beggs born 1819 in Dublin, Ireland. Charles Beggs' father was Francis Beggs born 1786 in Dublin, Ireland and was married to Clamina Lyons Montgomery born 1787 Dublin, Ireland.
