I have a William Johnston who married Jenny Beggs in Kilwaughter, Larne. Antrim on 1st October 1875.
Jenny Beggs's parents were Agnes Bell and John Beggs and Jenny was born 3rd Nov 1843 in Larne - probably Kilwaughter.
Jenny(Jane) Beggs either married before William Johnston or she had an illigitimate daughter called Mary Gingles who was
born in Ireland and was 16 on the census of 1881 in Shotts with the Johnston family but put down as 'niece from Ireland farmers daughter. She was actually Jane Beggs daughter.

She ends up with daughter herself called Minnie Gingles who was born in 1904 and another one called Elizabeth born 1883.
Both illigimate except that Mary married Minnie's father a year later.

My interest in the family is that my Great Great Grandparents were Agnes Bell and John Beggs of whom I know nothing. My great grandmother was their daughter Jenny(Jane) and my grandmother was Mary Johnston her daughter from Jane's marriage to William Johnston.
