Here is my contribution on the Beggs family of NJ. My great grandmother was Amelia Beggs. Her father was Hugh and her mother was Pamelia. Hugh is said to be from Wick, Scotland, but Pamelia was born in NY, according to 1850 census records for Paterson,NJ. Their other children were William W., James, Eugene, Ermia and Harry. My grandfather was named after Harry. No John listed, however. Amelia was born April 1, 1830 and died in 1910, age 80. Her husband was a minister in Methodist churches. He had another wife first, named Rebecca A., she had 2 children:Edward and Alexander. She died after Alexander was born and he died shortly afterward. No further info of Beggs--still searching. Somewhere in my records from NEGHS in Boston, I came across other Beggs families. Since they were not in the linae, I know not where they are at the moment. Natalie.
