The Beggs you are speaking of was Reverend Steven Beggs, a circuit Methodist priest. The Fort was Steven Beggs' farm near the DuPage River, which was used to defend against the Blackhawk and Potawatomi uprisings when the Americans started taking over the Indian territories. Edward Beggs may have been his son. There is a park on the corner of Fort Beggs Drive by the High School dedicated to Reverend Beggs. The Historical Society of Plainfield has more info on Reverend Beggs if you are interested.
