Hi Don,
I am also looking for information on my gr. grandfather who was born in NJ. I have Joseph Beggs, b. 1830 Caldwell NJ. He died
in Boston and his death certificate names
Hugh Beggs and Margaret as his parents. They
are also listed as NJ. Since the dates are
close, they might be related. I have reached a dead end on more info. I wrote to
the archives in NJ but they do not have records before 1850. I would have to go to
Caldwell for earlier records and that is not
possible at the present time.
Family stories say he was a hatter and came
to Boston to work for relatives after the
civil war.
Would love to make a connection on the Beggs
line.
