My Great-grandfather, Robert M. Beggs of York, Alabama, fought in the 42nd Alabama Infantry at Corinth and was killed in his forst battle. He was in Co.D, the colors company, and was reportedly in the process of removing the yankee flag from the parapet surrounding Battery Robinett, on the southwest side of Corinth, when he was killed. I also lost a GG uncle at Malvern Hill,(William Beggs, age 20) in General D.H. Hill's corps. He died sixteen days later in Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond.I have other information which might be of interest to genealogists.James N. Beggs
