The name change from Bieri to Beery was explained to me by one of the curators at the York Pennsylvania, Historical Society this way....when Nicholas gave his name to the emigration authorities in Philadelphia they recorded it as it sounded to them. Sometime it was written as Perry and sometime it was written as Beery and there were other spellings also. I think Beery was close to Bieri and that is what they used. Frank
