I've wondered about this family off and on, also, but never got to a solid answer.I looked again and this time realized that this Isaac was 62 and not 42 in 1850 (thanks to much improved images at ancestry.com), so perhaps this makes some sense to someone who can put these clues to good use...
Isaac Beers at Tompkins, Jackson Co. MI in 1840

male b. 1831-35 (Uriah)
male b. 1821-25 (Stephen)

Uriah as Burns, 17, b. NYfarm laborer with Emrey and Loretta [Place?]
can not locate Isaac in 1830
can not locate Stephen in 1850
checked all Isaac Beers in OH, MA, PA, CT, looking for 2 daus - nothing
not Isaac at Ithaca, Tompkins Co., NY (son of Josiah, TBG4)
That leaves only one KNOWN Isaac Beers born in the 1780s:
Isaac5 (Nehemiah4, Ephraim 3-2) TBG3:67
b. Fairfield, CT, 20 Feb; bpt. Weston, CT, 16 Apr 1758; d. 28 Aug 1836, prob at Aurelius, Cayuga Co., NY

and a son, Isaac6, b. 21 Sep 1787 recorded at Weston, CT, of whom nothing more is known

Jane b. 1790
Anne b. 1795

Lyman, b. 1800, w/ parents in 1830 (TBG3:122), back to CT in 1840s
Kate, b. 1802
The only reference to Stephen and Uriah A. in the Regan materials is in Beers Bulletin #51, Oct 1994, p. 363, a list of Civil War soldiers:
Stephen (unplaced) b. NY 1824; d. 6/7 Dec 1864 in Danville, VA rebel prison; son of Isaac and Catherine; enlisted 29 Oct 1861 as Pvt, Co. B, 10th Regt MI Vol Inf

Does this make any sense to someone with more knowledge about this family?
