We [my wife and I] have connections into the Beer Family from around Tywardreath, Gorran Haven and Constantine. We feel that this Josiah may well be related.
Our records include: Walter Beere, m. Dec 1643, Tywardreath; Crestover Beere, m. April 1677; his 4th child, William Beere, m. May 1710; his son Phillip Beere, m. July 1749 at Tywardreath; his second child, William Beer, m. March 1776, at Gorran Haven; his 1st child Phillip Beer, m. Joanna Hill July 1804, at Gorran Haven; their 1st child, Phillip, m. Jane Ward, June 1830, they had 5 children: George Ward Beer; Josiah Herbert Beer; Phillip Beer; Mary Jane Beer; Elizabeth Beer. Josiah and Phillip came on the "Chile" which docked at Dunedin, late 1861; George came to NZ a couple of years later.
