English Beers in China and India

Hi I hope someone might be able to help.

The maternal side of the family are Beers, originally of German origin I believe. Most of this side of the family were in colonial service and born abroad, making tracing them very difficult. I have only got as far back as 1870, when my great grandfather Herbert Leonard Beer was born in Nagapoor, Mysore Province, India. He became a missionary and teacher and lived in Wei Hai Wei, North China where my grandfather William Leonard Beer was born on 20th April 1902. He became a civil engineer and worked in Malaya where my mother was born.

A long shot I know, but does this ring a bell with anyone

Hugh Willmott
