The Aaron Beman/Bemon mentioned in the prior post is found in the 1790 U.S. census, living in Granby, CT with a family of 2 males over 16, one male under 16 and four females. Counting Aaron, himself, as one of the males over 16 implies that in 1790 he had a son at least 16 years of age,and if Aaron was between the ages of 20 and 30 when this eldest son was born, we can place Aaron's birth at between 1744 and 1754. He was probably born in the area of Granby in north central Connecticut, in the area that roughly lies between Hartford and Springfield, Mass., the two "major" centers of the area in that day. The movement of families from generation to generation was over a much shorter distance in the decades before the Revolution, a migration from Springfield, MA to Simsbury, CT to Granby (which was set off from Simsbury about 1684) was one such movement that was typical of some families of the area including that of the descendants of Simon Beman/Beaman and Alice Young. Simon of Springfield, had a son Samuel Beman/Beaman who married Margaret Chapman and had children born between 1696 and 1713. This Samuel resided for some time in Windsor, CT (near Hartford) then died in Simsbury, CT in 1741. Of his children, only one son is known, that being Samuel Beman/Beaman who married Sarah Pinney in Simsbury in 1731, they resided there and had the births of three children, Samuel (1733), Thomas (1734), and Simon (1736), as well as the death of daughter Sarah (1740) recorded there. As Samuel did not die until after 1762, and Sarah after 1783, it is certainly possible that they had other children that are yet to be discovered. Of this couples known children, Samuel went on to north-eastern New York State where his descendants are found and widely documented; Thomas can be found in Hartland, CT (near Simsbury and Granby); I have not found anything more on Simon. At any rate, Aaron Beman/Bemon, who could very probably be the father of Moses Beman/Beeman (of Granby, probably Canandaigua, NY, and Michigan) could be a son of Samuel Beman and Sarah Pinney, a grandson of Samuel Beman and Margaret Chapman, and great-grandson of Simon Beman and Alice Young. I offer this as a starting point from which others, who are so inclined, can search town, probate, and land records of Simsbury and Granby for evidence that this may be fact. At this time I would only consider this scenario as possible, much more evidence is needed.
(I will be out of town for a week or so as of tomorrow, and will be unable to respond to any replies to the two postings until after I get back). I hope there is someone out there who can add more. Happy Hunting!
