Barbara,
Thank for taking the find to research and post the message regarding the "Beem/Clancy" family. All the more thanks as it was posted for the good of the community as you indicated you were not "connected" with either family.
As a BEAM Family researcher, it was only a "fluke" that I ever noticed the post - a result of my incorrectly typing in Beem, rather than Beam.
Having said that, your post has assisted me in locating yet another 2 ancestors in what had become a rather "scattered" family.
Among the children of William Beam and Nancy Kelly (wed 1825 in Warren County, NJ - only the 3rd. such entry into the marriage records of what was then a "new" county) was a Sarah Jane Beam.
Sarah b. 1840 was a younger sister of my Great-Grandfather, John J. Beam, b. March 1832 in Hope Township, Warren County, NJ. Other chidren of William and Nancy included, Elizabeth (married a man named Cook,) William Henry Beam (married one Dyantha Goble) -and- served with my Great-Grandfather (John) in Battery "M" of the 2nd. PA Heavy Artillery/112th. PA Volunteers from 1862-65 in the War of the Rebellion. Another younger brother, Garret S. Beam (born c. 1845-46,) and a daughter Fannie (married Edward John) have continued to escaped me thusfar in my research.
Well....back to your post, and in particular Sara/Sarah.
I would have never recognized the name "Owen Clancy" except he was named as my Great-Grandfather John J. Beam's brother-in-law in an affivadit regarding the disposition of hismilitary disability pension which was filed by John's estranged (deserted??) first wife - Margaret Ann Smith, also born 1838-39 in hope Twp, Warren County, NJ.
Given the information in your post with regard to the names, dates, and particularly geography......it was rather simple for me to deduce that the "Sara" ennumerated as Owen Clancy's 40 year-old spouse (age 40 - living Warren County -NJ/NJ/NJ) had to be "my" missing Sara/Sarah Jane Beam - who disposition after 1850 had previously been a mystery to me.
The "icing on the cake," despite the spelling of the surname (i.e. Beem vs. Beam,) was young Mary, age 13, PA/PA/PA. It just so happens that Great-Grandad John Beam and his first spouse Margaret had a child named Mary in 1867.
As Mary was born in PA and her age of 13 years matched perfectly -and- her relationship was niece, there is no doubt in my mind that this Mary (and her Aunt Sara) are the very Beam family members that had eluded me for so long.
The only odd thing is that Mary's aunt Sara/Sarah must have known that her maiden name was Beam - not Beem. But, as anyone whose ever researched old records (or newer ones for that matter) realize that spelling is often a real "gotcha."
Thanks again for sharing your information, Barbara. It's made this Family Researcher a very happy fellow.
I think I'll cross-post this in the Beam Family Forum.
Regards,
Gary A. Beam
