An update to the above post is appropriate as of July 2014.
It has been discovered that Jacob Beeler 1750-1843 is not a son of Ulrich and Maria Buehler as previously claimed. The Beeler Family Bible, sometimes referred to as the Jacob Beeler Bible, which some researchers claimed established a relationship to Joseph Beeler 1744-1833 does not contain any such information. It is simply not in it.
The owner and whereabouts of the 1788 German Bible has been known since 1947. All aspects of the Bible’s discovery and its pages have been known for a long time. The relationship as a brother to Joseph Beeler 1744-1833 and John Valentine Beeler 1737-1823 is not in it. No ownership of the Bible, no relation to anyone, no place of birth of Jacob Beeler 1750-1843, no name of parents or his wife is shown.
The object of the story was to create a fictional brother for Joseph Beeler 1744-1843.A “brother” relationship was needed to satisfy another record found in the 1823 Shelby Dispute. This whole story about John Valentine Beeler 1737-1823 having a set of brothers, Jacob Beeler 1750-1843 and Joseph Beeler 1744-1833, at the Battle of King’s Mountain is a historical hoax and nothing more.
There is absolutely no merit to the claim. I do have a copy and have confirmed it as the source of the story for the last twenty years or so. Obtain a copy and read it yourself.
