Gilbert Edward Beehner.... Possible original German family name Boehmer.
I'm looking for family connections to Gilbert Edward Beehner born Nov 1910 Verdi, Lincoln, Minnesota and died March 1968 Seminole, Fl.buried in Hooker Cemetery, Whiteside, Tn. near Chattanooga, Tn.
He was of Catholic faith, a career Veteran and was a boxer that went by the nickname of "Chubby" while in the military.
His parents were John F Augustine Beehner b.1877 Fremont, Iowa, married Katerine "Katie" or Catherine Staebell 1896 who was b. 1876 Iowa and d. 1932 Verdi, Lincoln, Minnesota.
Gilbert's siblings were Francis J Beehner 1897-1977, Gertrude Mary "Gertie" Beehner 1898-1977, Grace Beehner 1902-? Eva Marie Beehner 1904-2000 and Clarence H Beehner 1909-1960.
I believe from census records that John F Augustine Beehner's father was August Heinrich Johannes Boehmer b. 1850 Germany , possibly: Helmern, Hoxter, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany d. 1936 Parkston, Hutchinson, South Dakota, married Kathrin Lena Grossman 1876 in Clinton, Iowa. They lived in Fairfield Iowa in 1880, Waterford, Clinton Iowa 1900, Susquehanna, Hutchinson, South Dakota in 1910.
According to census records, John F Augustine's name was spelled Boehmer and later was changed to Beehner.
If anyone has any connections to this line, please contact me.This is my husband's father's family. Gilbert died when he was 8 yrs old and he and one brother were adopted by his mother's sister and husband, the Bible family. There is only one older brother that still has the Beehner name.
We would like to gain some insight of his father's family roots as all ties to the Beehner family ceased when their father died in 1968.Thanks, Lynn Bible
