I want to thank you very much for responding to my posting about Curtis Alexander. It is gratifying to know what became of his library. I think that he was probably the most educated of the children of Judge Joseph E. Alexander, of Maryville, MO, which is why the judge bequeathed his own library to Curtis in his will.

My posting, to which you responded, contains all that I know about Curtis Alexander. I have never been able to find out anything more about Virdin or Verdin. I do know that Curtis moved around the country a lot, as I have found him in various places on the different Federal censuses. I think, based on items in the Maryville newspapers, that he also went to Alaska during the Gold Rush there.

Thank you again for responding. I wish I had more to share with you.

Lorna Dunklee
