Not too long ago my records stated the same information as you quoted to me, but then came the "Post It Note" on my Rootsweb page from Diana Norton. She had this to say, "The Asa Beebe JR. you have listed here can't be the son of Asa Beebe & Sarah (Day) Beebe. Their son died in Parma, Monroe Co., NY 15 Jul 1827 and is buried in the West Greece Cemetery. Diana in Wash." If you seek out the West Greece Cemetery in Parma, Monroe Co, NY on the Internet you will find that she is correct. So with this information I've had to adjust some of my Asa Beebe's information and start a quest to find the real answers. Following is a quote from a Martin relation who did the original research. I don't know if he's the one who decided on who Asa's parents were; it wasn't stated in the quote below. That may have been someone else along the way. "According to tradition Asa came south when he was 14 years old from the New England States. By his first wife he had two sons, William M., and Hiram. He married Sarah Rochesteau, a young girl with a son, Thomas. To their union were born Amos, Sela or Celey and Sarah. They lived in and around Mora to the Sabine all their lives. Both are buried at the old Devil's Swamp cemetery (this is incorrect) known as Conrade. Sarah died about 1900 long after her husband had passed away."[Coleman Martin] I found the following census record that supports the unknown first wife theory. 1830 Census Ouachita Parish, LA pg 187 Isa [Asa] Bebee Males: 20-30: 1 Females: under 5: 1 15-20: 1 I hope this helps you some. To date I have not determined who Asa's actual parents were. His birth would be in the 1805 range based on census information. Notify Administrator about this message?
