Several things you can do. Maynard died 15 Jan 1976 so you might go to St Joseph County, MI and get a copy of his death certificate to see if that tells you anything of his parents. You might also find the newpaper available in Mendon, MI in 1976 and see if you can find his obit that may also tell you something and you could also get his Social Security file and see if that tells you anything. SS # 378-01-8695. Another clue, his step father was named James but some census data show him as Jay and he was b. Kansas. Maynard's mother Bertha M. appears to have m. Hogle between birth of Maynand in 1905 and 1910 where she is then shown married to James "Jay" Hogle.
