I contacted Fred Beebe a descendant in CA concerning parents of John and he gave me permission to post his reply as follows:
Yes, I believe Hobson was the father of John Beebe who was the father of William Albert Beebe. I have a copy of a St. George Temple Endowment record (LDS Church) that shows Hobson and Deliverence Curtis as the father and mother of John.
In a journal, William Albert said he went to the St. George Temple to do the work for his father in June of 1877. I then checked thru the Endowment records for that period in the St. George Temple at the LDS Family History Center in Salt Lake and obtained a copy of this record.
I have corresponded with a couple of people that think Joseph was the father BUT they can not prove it. I have corresponded with about five real thorough genealogists on the Beebe line and they agree from their research with me.
In my Book “William Albert Beebe, His Ancestors and Descendants” I relate this proof in more detail. My book is on microfilm at the SLC Family History Center.
This difference of opinion is described in Jocelyn Hart Faux’s book, “Our Mayflower Ancestors and their Descendants” Published by Linrose Publishing, Fresno, CA on page 49. This is one of the best books I have seen on the Beebe ancestors. She did a superb job of research and putting it all together.
