I guess I haven't been keeping up to well on the forum... anyway, I have conducted extensive research and asked around quite a bit (notice my last name :) ). My step-grandmother, Doris, did a lot of the research and passed on to me the family information. She was married to Norman Leon Bhe, Jr. About two years ago I was sitting at home during a visit from my Great Uncle Ron Bhe (twin of Don Bhe). Out of nowhere he told me the same story of the name change due to two individuals that had the same name and thus when receiving mail they would have to read each others mail to determine which was which. He didn't know the first names but stated the name was changed to help distinguish mail. From a method of deduction Jacob is the only one that makes sense because of the timeframe of the Civil War and when he was born. There is still the missing "fact" of the first name to close this loop but I believe with the facts at hand this would be the truth of what happened. I have quite a bit of information on the family tree if you are interested.
