I'm trying to determine the ancestry of my ggg-grandfather, George Bedwell. He married Rachel Stout in 1819 in Franklin Co., Indiana and their six children (Thomas, Martin, Jesse, Mary, David & Hiram) were born in Ohio and Illinois. The family eventually settled in Wapello Co., Iowa. There does not seem to be a record of my George Bedwell among the Sullivan Co., Indiana Bedwells. The two Bedwell books I own refer to Robert Bedwell (1635) settling in Old Rappahannock Co., Virginia in 1661. He is assumed to be the common ancestor of the American Bedwells. But a John Bedwell is also referenced as owning land in St. George's Island, Bermuda in 1662. Is this Robert's brother ? Does anyone know if there is a record of John's descendants ? I have lots of information on my George Bedwell's descendants and would really like to verify his ancestry. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Diane
