Posted by: Bedwell/Price (ID *****5341) Date: June 30, 2007 at 09:10:51

This is addressing Thomas & Jamina (Johnson) Bedwell

You would not believe what I have been thru in finding answers to my Bedwell/Price family.
I & another cousin had the help of a researcher as we have 3 Bedwells/Johnson in our Price line.
this is results from deeds & other doc's:

William of WM Price m. to SARAH JONES (Sarah first m. to WM Jones?) in Kent Co., DE on 8/9/1797
(or could they have had a daughter Sarah Jones, if her c. was 1775 it could have fit both probabilities)
(chuch records shows them in Marydell -Hazelettville, St.Jones (Dover), Kent Co.)
(thanks to a cousin that makes MANY trips to Dover,DE.)

Son:
William Price Jr. m. to SARAH BEDWELL in Kent Co.,DE (hazelettville & Marydell)on 5/25/1816
(which has WM Bedwell as living next to them & son Thomas below, per Deed)

son:
Thomas J.Price b. 1818 m. to MARY BEDWELL b. 1817/18(same Loc.) on 12/18/1839
2)second wife was a MARY JOHNSON (this would have to be her married name) m. on 7/10/1849
she had a daughter whom Thomas' son marries

son:
John Wesley Price m. to ELIZABETH MARY JOHNSON
(she goes as E. Mary)11/8/1870
(a relative of Jamina Johnson?)

The Deeds(abt 9) list WM Bedwell living next door to Sarah (Bedwell) & WM Jr Price & there sons.....Could this have been her Bro?

We have the Marriage Cert.s of the first two & the others were from the certified researchers report with the ref. numbers.

Could this be the Sarah daughter to Thomas & Jamina Bedwell as in all the census' we find Preston, Caleb, Elijah (living w/Rebecca though?). and a Darling Johnson (which is a male),WM.& Thomas Bedwell(Bro.'s ?)
I Know it seems Caleb is suppose to be in Tenn.?

You have to know at first I had info that led me to some errors & I have the same prob. with my Price's as they all named their children aft. each other!

A search on Ancestry.com found a marriage of William Price to Sarah Bedwell in 1816 in Kent County,William JR to Sarah Jones, Thomas J. Price to Mary Bedwell, micro FHL ref.#0006421.

The first deed listed below was actually the last one read, because information about it was learned in later deeds. All deeds found are listed in chronological order. We learn that Thomas and Mary owned land in Dover Hundred which was originally owned by his parents, William and Sarah, and which was deeded to him and his only brother, Nathan, after the death of Sarah. It is interesting to follow these deeds for 50 years and see the common neighbors and land descriptions. The last deed mentioned appears to be different land, and there are apparently missing sales and purchases among these Price families. Copies of the deeds were sent separately. Because the original microfilm was filmed negatively (white lettering on black), and the copy made for you was reversed, it was difficult to get a good image.

It also appears that Sarah has a close relationship to John and Susannah Downs, who deed the land to William and Sarah, “in right of the said Sarah.”
