The project is underway and the first two participants have received their results. They match 40 out of 43 markers. Looking for Bedwells, Bedells, Biddles, Bidwells, Beadwells and Bittles to be tested. We need world wide participants. Since the test is Y DNA based, participants must be male and bear the surname. Your identity will remain strictly confidential. Women can help by encouraging male family members to participate and in other ways. Contact Sonja for details on how women can help.
There are a number of Bedwells who bear the surname, but are descendants of unmarried Bedwell ladies. DNA could help you connect to the correct paternal line. Many Biddles and Bidwells are actually Bedwells, and vice versa. This is an opportunity to sort this out. A check of immigration records reveals that is a fallacy to believe that all the Bedwells in the U.S. descend from Robert Bedwell of Virginia.
The tests are being conducted through DNA Heritage, a highly recommended testing service. The pricing is favorable.
