These two Bedwell's were 1st Cousins. They both first enlisted at Cleveland, TN and served together in Company C, 36th Infantry (Confederate), when it was formed in Dec 1861, and appears they left that unit together, most likely when it disbanded in June 1862. I do not have their dates of service or military record for that service.

JOSEPH C. BEDWELL was the son of John N. Bedwell, Jr. and Priscilla (Foreman) Bedwell and was born in 1847. His record of service for Company A, 4th (East) Tennessee Cavalry US reads: BEDWELL, Joseph Age 22, farmer, 5' 9" Enlisted May 24, 1863 at Nashville, deserted Jan 11, 1865, returned Feb. 26, 1865, not restored to duty. His father was one of the sons of John Bedwell b. ca1768 and Sarah (Ogle) Bedwell, who happens to be my Great-great-great Grandfather.

JOHN MARION BEDWELL b. Jul 4, 1843 in Murry Co. GA was the son of Preston "Press" Bedwell and Margaret "Martha" "Betsy" (Potts) Bedwell. His record of service in Co. A, 4th (East) Tennessee Cavalry US reads: BEDWELL, John, Pvt, Age: 20, Born: Murray, GA Deserted, charges dropped in 1886 1890: Living at Greenbrier, Robertson Co., TN. Preston Bedwell was also a son of John and Sarah (Ogle) Bedwell, and is my Great-great Grandfather.
