Jean,

Just some more FYI data abstracted from Roane Co, TN, court records (at http://www.roanetnheritage.com/research/court%20records/01.htm).

"George MARTIN died in Roane County in Aug 1831 leaving heirs as follows: widow Anny, James MARTIN, Elijah MARTIN, Polly MARTIN now Polly BEDSALT a widow, George BLACKWELL and Alsey his wife formerly Alsey MARTIN, Richard BLACKWELL and Tamer his wife formerly Tamer MARTIN, Matilda MARTIN single, all of Roane County, also Peggy MARTIN now deceased who left the following children towit William MARTIN of Roane County, Green Berry MARTIN of Wain Co., Ohio or of Indiana, Ann Marie LOW a minor of Knox Co., TN and also George MARTIN heir of George MARTIN, dec'd who resides in Smith Co., TN. June 1835."

In other relevant Roane Co court records, George's wife appears in written script as either Anny or Amy. In the 1850 Roane Co census, Anny/Amy is living with her son Elisha and is indicated to be 95(!) and born in VA.

My connection to all this is the line of William Martin (my [suspected] ggg grandfather). If the connection exists, then Anny/Amy would be my ggggg grandmother.
