Hello Beverly Bedgood Jackson- I am also a Bedgood and caucasian... and while my father was born near Vidalia, GA. and lived in Savannah all his life (and died there ) we have found many ancesters from the areas you mention. That we may be distantly related, would not surprise me at all given the situations in the deep south in those days. Some of those folks were very poor white tenant farmers and others were "gentleman" farmers - but I haven't run down a plantation owner or anyone with slaves etc. to date. Ethnically - the name is English/Welsh but can also be mixed with Scot and Irish.. Many come from Devon in England, but most from Wales apparently. I have only gotten infor (and pretty sketchy at that), as far back as 1780's - I don't think many were in the USA before that... Stay in touch - I'll tell you if I find anything else and if you have acess to a fax - I can fax some records to you! Elle Shepard - AKA Rae Ellen Bedgood Notify Administrator about this message?
