I am not related to any Bedgoods that I know of but in searching for my Riggs ancestors have collected Riggs Wills along the N. C. Coast. One Will seems to have reference to a William Bedgood that predates the Wm. Franklin mentioned here. The will is as follows:
Perquimens County, N. C. Will of Abraham Riggs written March 1759-Probated Jan, 1761: In it he mentions his wife 'Jane' and his brother John Riggs and 'kinsman' Abraham Riggs, son of brother John and 'kinsman' Jacob Riggs. He does not mention any children of his own but states 'I give to Elizabeth Bedgood, daughter of William Bedgood a cow and calve which now runs at the said Bedboods. I also give to Patty Bedgood one cow running at the Bedgood. I give & bequeth to my friend William Bedgood my black horse.' I have wondered if Abraham Riggs' wife Jane might have been a Bedgood. Anyway here is proof of a William Bedgood and where he lived in 1761 who must have been born before abt. 1730 to have one daughter in 1761 and possibly Patty is his daughter also. Rickey
