Simpson is a possible. My mother has said that name for Katie's last name. She could not remember. Something interesting for the Walker side is when I took Mother to Carnes Chapel a couple of weeks ago. She made the statement that Carnes Chapel was the first cemetery that she ever remembered going to when she was a girl. She said that a lot of Newt's family was buried there and his father's family. There are a lot of old burials there.
Also, Aurora is a community that has a cemetery. It is on top of the mountain. Looking at a map. Go US 278 west out of Attalla and turn right on State Hwy 179. Approximately 5-6 miles is Aurora.( I haven't measured that lately) The Jonas M.Bedford family arrived in that community between 1857 and 1859. Jonas Gibson Bedford was born in Marshall County, AL March 7, 1860. William C. Bedford was born Jan. 28, 1857 in Pickens County, GA.
The James Bedford family - James was born in Rutherford County NC and married Anna Poole (Pool) on Sep 26 1805 in Rutherford County NC. James Bedford could not have been the father of Dollie since she was born approximately 10 years before James and Anna married. Therefore, I say that Dollie IS NOT Jonas M. Bedford's sister. I firmly do not believe that Dollie is a Bedford AT ALL. She was born in GA and she was born in GA before the migration of these Bedfords that came to the area. The Bedfords were in the North Georgia mountain area immediately before they migrated to Alabama. James, Jonas' father, died in Lumpkin County, GA.
