Hi Lucy,

She was not born in New York, but I believe her parents were. I now think that Daniel Bedell and Ruth Doty were born around 1765-70 (based on one known child born in 1797 and another born in 1806, both in Canada).

The challenge is finding Daniel and Ruth's parents, births and birthplaces, and marriage.

One theory is that they were from Dutchess County.

Another theory is that they were from Long Island.

I don't know what church the family attended in New York. In Canada they were pretty routinely listed as Anglican / Church of England, but then that was true for almost everyone.

Thanks

David
