Two Thomas Becrafts, Kentucky
I would like to make contact with Tammy Bryson as I believe on her World Family Tree post she has the wrong Thomas Becraft as a son of Benjamin Becraft and Mary Foulger.Their Thomas was born in 1822, married Ellen Sanders in 1853 and was killed in the Civil War.The census records clearly show Thomas and Ellen living with his mother and other family members in 1860 in Bath County, Kentucky.
The Thomas Becraft who married Jemima Ringo was born in 1810 and died during the Civil War period, probably from natural causes due to his age. This family can be traced from 1840 to 1880 in the census records, first in Montgomery County, and then Menifee County, Kentucky. The Thomas born in 1822 would have been only fourteen years of age in 1836 when Thomas and Jemima (Ringo)Becraft had their first child.
When researching the Becraft family, we should all keep in mind that Abraham and Abigail (Shipley) Becraft were not the only Becraft immigrants to Kentucky, and that there is a lot of sorting to do!
