Looking for the parents of Lemuel Beckwith born ~1805-1806, maybe in Norwich or Franklin, New London County, Ct.
Barbour Collection:
Lemuel Beckwith of Franklin married Julia Bingham of Bozrah 30 January 1842 in Bozrah.
Lemuel was a shoemaker by profession. Lemuel and Julia had the following children: Harriet, Hettie, James W, Charles A., Frank, and Anna A. The last child, Anna, maybe a niece...the 1860 census lists her as Anna A. Bingham, but the 1870 census lists her as Anna A. Beckwith, and Henry and Julia Bingham are no longer living in the household. Henry and Julia are listed as relatives of wife on the 1860 census.
I believe that James W. Beckwith, Lemuel and Julia's son, is my ancestor James Willard Beckwith who married Maria Louisa Weaver. Maria was married first to unknown Child/Child(s) and had one son, Samuel S. Childs (History and Genealogy of a Branch of the Weaver Family by Lucius Egbert Weaver). I am not sure what happened to father and son.
James and Maria had the following children:
Grace, Elizabeth, and Willard J.
