Hi Virgil,
I was wrong about my last posting. That Capt Samuel Beckwith is from the PA Beckwiths.

The information I got from Mahlon is that Samuel H. Smith "Grant's Shadow", the telegrapher for Ulysses Grant is as follows:

SAMUEL MARCH BECKWITH 1812 CT
