According to the 1879 Cattaraugus Co. (NY) Gazeteer - there was a woman named Vashti Beckwith b. 14 May 1805 , who was the daughter of Abner Beckwith of Burlington CT. Abner owned 150 acres at Burlington CT, was m. 1st to someone named _____ Humphrey and 2nd to Rachel Laird. His children are listed as Samuel, Israel, Humphrey, Lydia, Eliza, Polly ( m. L. Bottsford ), Vashti (m. H. Woodin ), Hoel , and Orville.
Perhaps there is a link.
