John, do you have any more on this James? My Ggrfather was James Christopher who was said to have been adopted by a James Christopher Beckwith at age 10.. The elder James supposedly wanted an heir. That is all we know.. Not even sure adoption records were kept at that time.. ( aprox.1882 for adoption) thanx for any reply..
