I am a direct descendent of Matthew Sr. who cam to CT in the early 1600s. I have read a book that documents the Beckwith name back to its earliest time when the name was originally proclaimed by Lady Beckwith Bruce as she married into the de Malebisse family. The time frame in the 1200s, I believe. That de Malebisse line goes back another few generations with first names such as Hercules and Sir Hugo. I think we should share info, no?
