BECKWITH at least 500 years in Yorkshire

I have mentioned previously that my WELLS families have been closely linked with the BECKWITHS over the centuries in Yorkshire, England, see:
http://www.johnwells.mcmail.com/robert.htm

Here are some sources:

1.BECKWITHS were renting various properties from Fountains Abbey well before its dissolution before 1540 - Full transcripts in the Fountains Abbey Lease Book, Ed. D.J.H.Michelmore (Yorkshire Archaelogical Society)

2 Early BECKWITH wills are stored at LEEDS Archives at Sheepscar in Leeds, Yorkshire.

3 BECKWITH families are listed in the Hearth Tax List for Claro Wapentake 1672.

It would be an understatement to say that the presence of BECKWITHS in the RIPON area c.1500 was significant. The last BECKWITH to be born at Cowmiers (see Web page above)is still living!!
I would strongly recommend anyone linked to these BECKWITHS to join the RIPON Historical Society.
