Milan Sumner Beckwith was born on a farm near Alstead, NH son of Jared Beckwith & Lucy Brigham. Jared was one of 10 children of Ira Beckwith and Hannah Wheelock. Milan moved to Pana, IL soon after 1850 when both of his parents died. Milan was the first PM of Pana and founded the first newspaper. He was an able public speaker and knew both Stephen A. Douglas & Abraham Lincoln. What is your descent from Milan? Virgil Huntley
