Dear JD My grandmother's grandfather was Lemuel Holmes Beckley. I really know very little of his ancestors. He was born 15 Feb. 1834 in Ohio (near Mount Vernon, I think). His parents were George Beckley and Nancy Ann Watson, nothing else known about these two. Lemuel Holmes Beckley married at Knox County, Ohio, March 16 1854 Delilah Stacker (Stacher, Stecher). Shortly after their marriage, the relocated to Story County, Iowa, and bought a farm from William Wilson near the town of Cambridge. There are still descendants living there. Lemuel Holmes Beckley died at Cambridge on 26 Sept. 1909. His wife died 20 Sept 1914, but not in Story County. They are buried side by side at the Cambridge Cemetery. They had 10 children: John William, born in 1855; Willis Warren, born in 1858; David Stacher, born 1861; George Clarence, born in 1865; Charles S., born in 1866; Talitha M., born in 1869-1957 (my great grandmother); Bertha May, born in 1872; Effie C., born in 1875; Minnie Blanche, born in 1876-1886; and Warner, (no date) I believe his wife, Delilah Stacker, was born in Washington County, Pennsylvania in Union township and believe that her father was Peter Stacher, although, I am still looking for confirmation of this. I hope that this information is helpful. Does it appear that Lemuel Beckley fits in to any of your Beckley families? Many thanks, Ted Yungclas
