Hi Judy
I am ashamed to say that I do not have very much on your family, although you are connected to the rest of the bunch.I have records on every Beckham family in America, Australia, and a lot on the English Side.Below is what I have on your family.I should have much more since I have access to all of the birth, death, Marriage, and divorce records in Texas. You have given me a clue on the Bell family which I will begin to follow up on.I apparently haven't done any connections beyond the 1870 census of Texas and that bothers me.I will have to do more.Of course, I work on the Beckham family every day and have been doing so for over 33 years and in my Beckham book I have over 13,000 pages of family information. So you see there is a lot to cover and sometimes I only work on a branch when someone like you contacts me.Thanks for the headsup.I don't know how much informaiton you would like.if you are only interested in Benjamin Beckham and Amelia Ballard I can send you that file.If you want more I can give you the entire book and all my research, including over 800 photos on a computer CD in Microsoft Word format for the sum of just $25.00.If interested send me a check for $25.00 and I will get one off to you.In the meantime I need you to bring your family upto date as much as you can.
My wife's family stems from the old Stephen Beckham Sr line which is a Great Uncle of Benjamin Beckham. My wife's family is from Wayne Co, TN.There was a time that Wyatt David Beckham also lived in TN but in a neighboring county before he mored to AL and then to Mississippi. In any case I will get this off to you so you know I know what I am talking about and in another E-mail I will send you a File or two on Benjamin Beckham's family.

BENJAMIN BECKHAM (B1A1C8) - (Son of William Beckham (B1A1C) and Nancy Ann Green) - b. 1760 in Granville Co, NC and d. 25 Oct 1817 in Chester Co, SC. He was married on 19 Oct 1783 in Warren Co, NC to Mildred Amelia Ballard, dau of William Ballard of Orange Co, NC and ________. She was born 1763 in Granville Co, NC and died 29 Dec 1829. She is buried in Limestone Co, AL.
Benjamin Beckham was a soldier during the Revolutionary War. We do not know his unit, however, we do know that he did not file for a pension under the laws that followed the Revolutionary War. He may have filed for a Land Grant as compensation for his service in the Revolutionary War, but as of yet we have not been able to locate it. It was not uncommon for members of the Beckham family to not file for Revolutionary War pensions because they felt that they served as their patriotic duty and did not feel that monetary compensation was necessary. They did however take land for their service. Also most Beckham families were well-to-do farmers and did not need the monetary compensation that poorer members of the family filed for.

Benjamin Beckham appears on a deed for land on Weaver’s Creek, Warren Co, NC. In Dec 1802 he sold this land and moved to Chester Co, SC and joined his brothers and sisters, being the last of them to leave North Carolina. On 4 Mar 1806 he bought 100 acres situated on Hayes Branch of Rocky Creek, a branch of the Catawba River in Chester Co, SC. This appears to have been his home place and the only land he purchased in Chester Co, SC. The land on Hayes Branch of Rocky Creek was sold by his heirs in 1822.
Some of Benjamin Beckham's children moved from Chester Co, SC to Lancaster Co, SC while others accompanied his wife Mildred Amelia Ballard into Madison and Limestone Co, Alabama. From here at least two sons moved to Giles Co, TN and are responsible for the Beckhams in this county even today.
When the land in Northern Alabama was opened for settlement, Benjamin Beckham applied for land, probably going there with his brother, Philemon. He may have been in the process of moving to Alabama when he died. Benjamin Beckham's will is filed in Chester Co, SC in Vol 2, Sec J, Page 3.
