Many Jamaicans traveled to Panama, 1904-14 to help build the canal, and got trapped their after it was finished.
The Theophilus middle name is of note. I have done some interesting research. I have found many in the St. Elizabeth and Westmoreland Parishes in Jamaica have that middle name; including my families, Welshs and Powells.
By the way, my maternal great, grandmother was a Margret Beckford.
