the family came from an area near gloucester where there is a small beck or stream with a ford across it is all satill there but there is now a bridge somewhere we have a photo but not sure
the reason aparently why there are so many Jamaican Beckfords is that the family had sugar plantations there and the workers took the masters name
Also there was a beckford who was Lord Mayor of Landon at least twice and there is a statue of him in the London Guildhall
