My great grandfather was Hans Heinrich Becker, he came to the states through New York in the early 1850's. He was about 10 when he arrived in the states. In 1860's he was living around Fort Wayne, Indiana and he was persuaded to enlist in the Union Army. He later returned to Indiana and married Sophia. According to family sources he was jewish and she was not. He was cast out as a result of this marriage from the family. He and Sophia left for Benton County, Iowa and he farmed there until the 1890's. He had a brother named Henry who left Iowa for Omaha, Nebraska in the 1890's. One of Han's children was William H. Becker, b1886-d1943 who was my grandfather. The family moved to London, Arkansas in the 1890's. Does anyone know about my Indiana roots?
