Searching for any information on any known family members of Wanda Beker also called Backer or Becker
The only information I have is that Wanda was born in 1903 in Backus-Wanda, Chelm, Poland.
Parents were Kryszia & Amelia Beker. Her sister’s Marta (Martha), Lidja (Lydia), her brother’s Gustov & Rudolf.
April 25, 1927 - The ship records show that Wanda Beker was born in 1903 and was 24 years old when she applied for her entry into Canada.
May 19, 1927 - Wanda left Danzig and sailed from South Hampton, England on the ship S.S. Montroyal as a 3rd class passenger.
Wanda had the sum of $25.00 in her position.
May 26, 1927 - The S.S. Montroyal landed in Quebec.
The Lutheran Immigration Board sponsored Wanda and her destination was to be Winnipeg, Man. to work as a domestic servant.
The records show that Wanda was traveling inland on the CPR and also says landed immigrant.
I have checked the Winnipeg Henderson Directories for the years 1927-1930 she was not listed in these directories.
Some family members say Wanda may not have left on the train for Winnipeg and it may be possible she went to Toronto.
Wanda had a family member that went to Toronto from Poland in 1926 and he was working for the CPR or CNR at the time.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
