Hey, Joe! HOW are you his great-great-grandson?! Which of Joseph's sons was your great-grandfather, and did your grandfather live in New York City?!

So far as I know, Joseph Becker b. 1829 had four sons: (1) Joseph b. ca. 1860 (who seems to have had at least two children, Joseph b. March 1880 and Annie b. August 1888); (2) Kasper b. 1872, d. 1888; (3) Christie b. August 1866; and (4) August/Gus b. April 1885. All four sons were born in NYC on West 39th Street where Joseph senior owned a saloon and tenement (apartment building).

For the benefit of others, I also know (pretty much) that Christie married Elizabeth Keeler and ran his father's saloon on West 39th Street for some years, and that Gus married Catherine Fritz and moved to Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Kasper died at age 16 from injuries sustained in falling off a wagon, when he'd jumped on to tease a friend who was transporting fireworks (or so I recall the story).

I don't know what became of the son Joseph and am hoping that he was your great-grandfather and that you can shed some light on that line!

The two sisters in that family were Catherine/Katie b. 1857 who married Jacob Zwicker and Sophie (my great-grandmother) b. 1869 who married William Boyle. A first son, Carl, was born in Germany in 1854 but apparently died shortly after Joseph and Annie Dux (along with her mother, Catherine Dux) immigrated to NYC in June 1855.
